Demand for strict action against culprits
Jamshedpur: All India Women’s Cultural Organization held a protest against the gang rape incident in Chaibasa district last Thursday.
Demonstrating in all the districts of the state, the organization raised the demand for strict action against the culprits.
The organization also demonstrated at the Jamshedpur Police Headquarters.
Women representatives said that women are being exploited in every district of the state. Law keepers need to crack down on this.
They said that increasing illegal trade narcotics is the main reason for this and the police need to crack down on it and only then women can be safe and crime against women can be curbed.
It is worth mentioning that a case of gang-rape with a tribal girl came to light near the aerodrome located near Tekrahatu in Chaibasa Mufassil police station area.
The victim is a software engineer and is doing work from home living in Chaibasa.
The incident happened at around 6 pm on Thursday.
Police were told that the victim is from a village under Jhinkpani police station.
She along with her friend was going from Chaibasa Thursday evening on scooty to visit Tekra Hatu. They went near the airstrip, where 8- youths threatened the friend. They drove him away and gang-raped the girl.
When the police got information about this at night, Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dilip Khalko and Mufassil police station in-charge Pawan Pathak reached the spot with the force and started looking for the accused.
In this case, the police picked up some youths from the surrounding village on suspicion and took them to the police station, where all were interrogated.
Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar said that some youths have been taken into custody on the basis of suspicion and are being questioned.
