Jamshedpur: While the police are already seized of the matter in the case relating to self-immolation bid by a class IX student of Shardamani Girls High School and are probing the allegations of harassment against a particular teacher, the education department too has formed a committee to probe the allegations of wrong-doing by the teacher and the school.
A team of education department officials will investigate the matter.
It is learnt that soon after the incident sparked off a major protest from the local community, the education department scampered to form a probe committee to look into the entire incident.
The probe committee constituted by the department would be headed by the District Education Superintendent (DSE) himself.
The committee has been directed to investigate the matter and submit the report within 48 hours.
Education department officials said that the four-member inquiry committee has been directed by the department to submit the report within 48 hours on the incident of Shardamani Girls High School.
Action will be taken against the culprits as soon as the investigation report is submitted, the department officials added.
The incident relates to the shocking incident, in which a class IX student from Bhuiyandih Chhayanagar area set herself on fire after she was allegedly humiliated by invigilator during an examination.
She suffered 80 per cent burns and was rushed to MGM Hospital and then referred to TMH, where her condition was stated to be serious.
Relatives of the girl accused the invigilator of the school of having forced her to strip in the name of checking for ‘chits’ during examination.
They said that this caused a deep humiliation and shock in the girl and she set herself on fire.
The incident sparked off a furore and the locals held a dharna and demonstration demanding strict action against the guilty teacher.
