JMM leaders have threatened to launch a massive agitation in case the displaced vendors and traders are not rehabilitated soon
Jamshedpur, Aug 23: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leaders have demanded rehabilitation of vendors and traders displaced from Sakchi Patta Market during a recent anti-encroachment drive launched by the district administration.
A delegation of party leaders met East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav on Tuesday and handed over a memorandum to her in this regard.
“Many poor people have been selling leaves, firewood and other forest produce at the Patta Market for the last 40 years in order to earn a living. But the district administration removed them without taking measures to rehabilitate them in the first place. The administration’s action has come down heavily on these poor people who are on the verge of penury now,” said one of the JMM leaders.
