TSF rolls out Rural Immersion Module for XLRI students

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) introduced the Rural Immersion Module for students of renowned management cradle XLRI at Jamshedpur on Monday.

The module is expected to channelize the ‘Emotional Intelligence’ in future managers and employees which will ultimately help them in imbibing ‘Transformational Leadership’. The whole process comprises orientation, visit to rural areas, debriefing among the groups and presentation.

Present during the introductory session of the programme were Professor Raghuram Tata, XLRI, Sourav Roy, CEO, TSF and Jiren Topno, Head, Tribal Services, TSF among others.

Rural Immersion Module is a unique component of all the full-time, residential programmes (BM, HRM, FPM and Ex-PGDM) of XLRI Jamshedpur. It has been designed to provide an exposure to students to life in rural or urban areas, including sensitization with, and understanding of the several economic, social, and environmental issues faced by the people, mostly those from the disadvantaged social strata. The module is further meant to help students ideate on how appropriate interventions like modern technology, management concepts and policy instruments can improve the overall wellbeing of the disadvantaged social strata.

The rural immersion module is also in consonance with XLRI’s vison to nurture responsible global leaders for the greater common good and a sustainable future, and XLRI’s mission to nurture responsive ethical leaders sensitive to environment and society.
