181 from Jharkhand await evacuation from Ukraine. These include 67 women and 114 men.
Ranchi: 17 residents of Jharkhand, mostly students who were stranded in Ukraine, have been brought back to the state safely, thanks to the combined efforts of the Indian central and Jharkhand state government and Operation Ganga launched for evacuation of Indians.
The batch of 17 rescued Jharkhand residents arrived in the state Tuesday evening.
According to the information received from the control room set up by the state government more students are likely to return soon.
Information is being shared by the state government with the central government to facilitate evacuation of the students and residents of Jharkhand.
The control room set up by the state government has been very effective as a large number of calls were received about the people from the state being stranded in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.
Information of about 181 people has been received through 134 phone calls received so far in the control room.
Of these, 67 are female and 114 are male.
A control room was set up in the state to help bring back the people of Jharkhand from Ukraine.
Earlier, the Chief Minister had also written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah urging him to help bring back the people of Jharkhand.
