Jamshedpur: Reacting sharply to the sudden spurt in crimes against traders and businessmen, especially jewellers, in the city, the founder president of Jamshedpur Swarnkar Samaj Dharmendra Kumar demanded better security for businessmen.
Condemning the loot of gold worth about Rs 10 lakh from the employees of a jeweller in Sakchi market on Friday evening, Dharmendra Kumar, the founder president of Jamshedpur Swarnakar Samaj and president of Jamshedpur Vishwakarma Karigar Sangh today said that criminals have been targeting jewellers of the city especially in the recent times.
He said that the jewellers were still reeling under the impact of the loot of Rs. 32 lakh cash from the employees of Chhaganlal Dayalji & Sons of Bistupur, when the criminals have struck again in Sakchi and snatched jewellery worth Rs. 10 lakh.
Dharmendra said that now the only way to check this trend is to put decisive pressure on the government so that the police can take strict and prompt action against the criminals and provide adequate security to the jewellers.
He said that now the jewellers in Ranchi will have to show solidarity with their counterparts in Jamshedpur.
He added that the Ranchi jewellers should hold a sit-in in the capital to pressurise the government into providing better security.
He also said that, if needed, an indefinite shutdown and demonstration in Ranchi should be held a call should be given to the jewellers from all over Jharkhand to participate in it.
He said that thousands of artisans and ‘employees of jewellers will lend support to any effort to get rid of the sense of fear and insecurity that now prevails in their mind.
