Jamshedpur: A woman, K Banerjee, 30-year-old wife of S Banerjee, a resident of Zone No 1 in Birsanagar under the jurisdiction of Birsanagar police station, died under suspicious circumstances.
The police suspect that she might have died after consuming phenyl. It is not yet known whether she consumed phenyl accidentally or deliberately.
The police suspect that it may also be a case of family dispute.
Family members say that S Banerjee works as a contract worker.
Police suspect family discord may have precipitated the incident.
The police are looking into all angles including the possibility of the wife consuming phenyl after her husband’s departure from home.
The police are still investigating the case and nothing has been confirmed yet.
The deceased has left behind two daughters. One is 13 and the other is 10.
Seeing the deteriorating condition of the mother, both the daughters panicked and informed their maternal uncle about the incident on the phone.
After reaching home, their maternal uncle rushed his sister to MGM Hospital for treatment, where the doctors declared her brought dead.
On receiving the information on Wednesday, the police reached the hospital and sent the dead body for post-mortem.
The police are investigating the matter.
