Kharkai river is flowing two and a half meters above the danger mark. Due to this, the risk of flood has arisen in the low-lying areas adjacent to the river.
Water has entered a dozen houses in Bagbera Naya Basti and Sido-Kanhu Basti.
On the other hand, due to the rising water in Kharkai, the administrative officials have started visiting the low-lying areas.
On getting information about the increasing water level in Bagbera, ADM Nand Kishore Lal and Executive Officer of Jugsalai Nagar Parishad JP Yadav reached Naya Basti and asked people to go to safer places.
The Kharkai river is flowing above the danger mark (129 meters) on Adityapur Bridge in the measurements taken by the Water Resources Department. At present the water level of Kharkai is 131.00 meters.
The water level of Swarnrekha river at Mango bridge stood at 120.10 meters on Wednesday evening, which is 1.30 meters below the danger mark of 121.50.
According to the information, one more gate of Byangvil Dam has been opened by the Odisha government to a height of two meters. Owing to this, water has entered some houses on the banks of Kharkai river in Bagbera and Kadma Shastrinagar.
It has also affected the Swarnrekha river. This river is too is overflowing and can cross the danger mark at any time.
