In a shocking incident, villagers attacked the vehicle of Manatu police station in-charge and injured at least 5 policemen included women. The incident occurred at Semri in Palamu.
Ranchi: Villagers attacked the police station in-charge’s vehicle in Semri in Palamu district located in the Manatu police station area of Palamu.
In this attack, four policemen and a woman including station in-charge Pankaj Kumar were also injured.
The attacking villagers also snatched the mobile of the station in-charge. Then they also tried to take them hostage and took them some far away in the forest.
The police station in-charge was returning from court work.
The villagers mistook their vehicle as the forest department’s vehicle and attacked.
In this case, the Manatu police have detained three people and are interrogating them.
Manatu in-charge of Manatu police station in-charge Pankaj Kumar and other jawans, who were injured in the attack, were treated at Manatu Health Center.
It is learnt said that a person was hit by a forest department vehicle in Simri. Angry villagers were assembled at the site.
Later, Manatu police station in-charge was returning from Medininagar Civil Court after getting the statement of a victim recorded under Section 164.
Near Semri, the villagers attacked the station in-charge, mistaking it as the vehicle of the forest department.
The villagers completely damaged the police vehicle.
After taking the station in-charge and others to the forest, the villagers came to know that they were all policemen of Manatu police station. They, later, released them.
Seeing their mistake, the villagers ran away from the site.
Later additional police force reached the site and took three persons into custody.
