BJP vowed to continue its protest against allotment of room for namaz in Assembly building and said that the government should withdraw the decision, or allocate rooms for all religions.
Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Mahanagar BJP workers today sat on a dharna at Sakchi Roundabout to protest the allocation of a room for namaz in Jharkhand Assembly building.
The BJP has voiced strong protest against the decision of the Speaker to allocate a room for namaz in Assembly building. On Sunday, BJP workers hall also burnt the effigy of Hemant government on the same issue at Sakchi Roundabout.
On Monday, a large number of BJP workers sat on a dharna at Sakchi Roundabout and recited Hanuman Chalisa en masse.
They also delivered speeches and shouted slogans against the government, the Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the Speaker of the Assembly.
BJP leaders said that the Chief Minister is only trying to please a particular community by inducing in the politics of appeasement.
Mahanagar BJP president Gunjan Yadav said that Assembly is the temple of democracy and indulging in appeasement policy in the name of religion is not appropriate.
He said that if such a decision is to be taken, then separate rooms should be allotted for members of all communities and religions.
He said BJP would continue its phased agitation to force the government to withdraw the decision.
The former MLA of Potka, Menaka Sardar was also present in the dharna.
