To this effect, the campaign was inaugurated at Project High School Sosomali of Rajnagar block in Seraikela-Kharsawan district in the presence of Transport Minister Champai Soren, Government of Jharkhand and Arava Rajkamal, Deputy Commissioner, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Additional Deputy Colelctor Subodh Kumar, Civil Surgeon Dr Vijay Kumar, Rasmuni Hansda, Mukhia of Kendmundi panchayat and other government officials along with Sourav Roy, Chief (Corporate Social Responsibility), Tata Steel and members from Tata Steel Foundation and Tata Main Hospital were present on the occasion.

The vaccination drive, which is a joint venture between Tata Steel Foundation and Tata Steel Medical Services, is an effort to support the nation’s campaign to alleviate the horrors of the pandemic through proper vaccination of its citizens. The goal is to saturate the area with community vaccinations and then extend to the other areas of the state, covering villages and small hamlets in the rural areas.

The National Health Mission is also working in tandem with TSF through its Sahiya network to mobilise the masses and creating awareness sessions and demystifying facts related to Covid-19.

Currently one location in Rajnagar block, namely Project High School Sosomali, has been identified as vaccination point. Earlier, similar vaccination drives have been inaugurated in Noamundi, West Bokaro and Jharia. Till now, 17, 125 vaccines have been administered.

“To enable equal opportunities and maintain the quality of life for the local communities lies at the core of the vision of Tata Steel Foundation. The vaccination programme will thereby ensure that in this age of a growing pandemic our local communities from marginalized areas are provided with timely intervention and the best possible protection from the disease”, said Sourav Roy, Chief, Corporate Social Responsibility, Tata Steel.

In the last six months, Tata Steel Foundation has also been elemental in mobilizing communities for getting themselves registered online for vaccination through the #ApnoKiSuno initiative.
