Truck & Trailer Association has warned of a ‘Chakka Jam’ if their issue is not resolved within next 10 days.
Jamshedpur: The Truck and Trailer Owners Association staged a sit-in and held a demonstration front of the Burmamines HSM Parking Gate. They were demanding an increase in the freight tariff.
On Tuesday, a delegation of the Association submitted a memorandum to the company officials and said that if their issues are not addressed, then they will cause a chakka jam from August 20.
The Association patron Dhananjay Rai said that the prices of diesel are increasing regularly. He said that Tata Steel is also increasing the freight tariff for its registered vendors regularly.
However, he added, the vendors are still sticking to the old tariff when it comes to paying the transporters.
This is causing a concern for livelihood among truck owners.
He said that Tata Steel management is directly responsible for this situation. He reiterated the demand that orders be placed directly with the local transporters by Tata Steel, instead of through vendors.
