Jamshedpur: With incessant rains and rise in the water level in Subarnrekha river, the residents of Adarsh Nagar IV th and VII th phase are once again facing the the problem of waterlogging in their residential area.
Locals are very upset due to water logging in Adarsh Nagar 4th phase and 7th phase of Sonari, Jamshedpur.
Heavy rain on Saturday night led to massive water logging.
This is not a new problem. This issue has been cropping up almost every year for at least last 17 years.
Hundreds of families living in Adarsh Nagar Society are facing the problem of waterlogging almost in every rainy season.
Locals say that they dread rainy season due to this water logging issue for the 17 years.
Property worth worth lakhs of rupees is destroyed every year as water enters houses.
The residents say that it becomes difficult to even leave the house due to water logging.
Water enters garages and a lot of damage is caused to household articles.
The residents of the society are now seeking help from the government and pleading with authorities to find some solution to their long-standing problem of water logging.
A Congress leader Sitaram Chaudhary, who lives in Adarsh Nagar 4 Phase, says that he has been living in Adarsh Nagar for the last 7 years.
He says that he has to face this problem of water logging almost every year.
He says that the vehicles and all household articles in the ground floor flats get inundated and damaged due to water.
He said that the MLA and the Health Minister Banna Gupta had visited the area and issued orders to make a drainage to resolve the issue.
However, he said, work is still in progress on the drainage.
He said that the residents are hopeful that the issue would be resolved with the government’s intervention.
He also appealed to the state government and the Disaster Management Department to give proper compensation to the residents for the damage caused to them duets waterlogging.
