Big success to district police in anti-naxal drive
Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum police achieved a major success today as it found 6 cane bombs and 8 cylinder bombs during its anti-naxal operation in Bodam police station area at the foothill of Dalma. All the bombs were defused by the anti-bomb squad.
East Singhbhum district has been declared a Naxal-free district, but during the anti-Naxal operation conducted by the Jamshedpur Police on Saturday, a big success was achieved.
The police team recovered 14 bombs in all, 6 cane bombs and 8 cylinder bombs from the foothills of Dalma Hills under the jurisdiction of Bodam police station area. This foiled a nefarious design of the naxal groups.
Jamshedpur SSP Dr M Tamil Vanan confirmed that 6 can bombs and 8 cylinder bombs have been recovered during the search operation.
He said that each of the bombs weighed around 6 to 8 kg.
All were defused by the bomb disposal squad.
He said that the intention of the Naxalites was to blow up the security forces and police personnel engaged in anti-Naxal operation.
The recovery of 14 bombs has underlined the fact that naxal organisations may still be active in East Singhbhum district.
Jamshedpur SSP said that search operations are still going on in the area.
Earlier, Bodam, Gudabandha Ghatshila, Chakulia, Patmada and MGM police stations of Jamshedpur were known for naxal presence and activities.
By the way, there has been a decrease in naxal activities in these areas in recent times.
However, after Saturday’s incident, a new challenge has cropped up before the Jamshedpur Police I.e. the spectre of naxal organisations’ presence.
However, Jamshedpur Police is actively running a drive against naxals in vulnerable areas.
