Jamshedpur: JMM has opposed recruitment of outsiders in Tata Steel and has launched an agitation demanding preference to local tribals and moolvasis in recruitment being carriedl out by the company.
Hundreds of JMM members led by the central committee member Mahavir Murmu held a demonstration at the General Office gate of Tata Steel on Thursday.
JMM leaders said that they would not allow Tata Group to employ outsiders at any cost.
JMM leader Mahavir Murmu told media persons that open recruitment is being carried out by the company without giving preference to locals.
He said that the state government has issued clear directives to employ local persons. However, he alleged, Tata Steel is trying to recruit outsiders and thus deprive the local youths of job opportunities.
He warned Tata Group to not ignore the applications of local applicants and said that ignoring local applicants would lead to serious consequences.
Sources said that recruitment is being carried out for several posts, including for the posts of apprentices, and applications have been sought from qualified candidates.
However, eligible youths from any state of the country can apply for the posts.
JMM is opposing this and says that locals should be given preference in any recruitment.
