Jamshedpur: Bidyut Baran Mahato, the MP of Jamshedpur raised the issue of imparting education through local language in Lok Sabha during question hour.
During the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha on Monday, the MP asked why the expenditure on research is so less in India as compared to developed countries.
He said that while USA, Israel and many developed countries in Europe spend between two percent and four percent of their GDP on research, India is far behind on this front.
During this, the MP reminded the House about the Prime Minister‘s emphasis on National Research Foundation and the National Education Policy.
He also sought information from the Education Minister about the updated status of the formation of the National Research Foundation.
He also sought to know about the action plan of the Government of India for increasing the expenditure on research.
He said that in other countries like China, Japan, France, Germany, Russia, higher education is imparted through local languages.
He sought to know the plans and goals of the Ministry of Education, Government of India in this matter.
Responding to this, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the government is committed to expediting research and skill development in higher education and strengthening the country’s self-reliance.
He said that in-depth discussions are going on with the Principal Scientific Advisor and the concerned departments.
