Jamshedpur: The demand for probe into Mother Teresa Welfare Trust director Harpal Singh Thapar’s death inside Ghaghidih Central Jail is getting louder as several prominent members of Sikh community and intellgentsia have also lent their voice to the demand for an independent probe.
Amid allegations of torture and marks of deep wounds in the body of the deceased, several people from the Sikh community have urged the administration and the state government to institute an independent probe.
BJP leader and a prominent member of the Sikh community, Amarpreet Singh Kale has termed the demise of Harpal Singh Thapar inside jail as ‘extremely objectionable and condemnable’.
In a tweet, in which the CM’s twitter handle was also tagged, he urged the CM Hemant Soren to institute a high-level probe into the entire incident and ensure strict action against the persons found guilty in the matter.
His view was supported by several other twitter users. One Mukesh Sharma, a BJP leader, said, “It is the responsibility of the judiciary to judge someone’s culpability in a crime. However, death inside jail in this manner points to a bigger conspiracy.”
