Jamshedpur: BJP has opposed the constitution of Tribal Advisory Council in the present format. The first meeting of the Tribal Advisory Council in Jharkhand was held in Ranchi. However, no BJP member attended the meeting.
BJP has raised questions over the changes in the rules whereby the right to nominate members of the council has gone to the CM, the ex-officio chairman of the TAC.
The BJP is protesting against the amendment in the TAC manual by the Mahagathbandhan government of Jharkhand comprising Mukti Morcha, Congress and RJD. It said that the amendment was done without the consent of the Governor.
On Tuesday, Laxman Tudu, the National Executive member of the BJP Scheduled Tribe Morcha at the Jamshedpur Mahanagar office, held a press conference and protested against TAC terming it as wrongly constituted.
He said that a scholarly personality from the tribal community should be appointed as the chairman of the TAC President.
He said that this is important so that the interests of the tribals are not politicised.
Apart from this, he also raised the demand for reserving one seat out of 20 for women and one for primitive tribes.
Mr. Tudu said that in future if there is no tribal chief minister, how can a non-tribal chief minister be the chairman of TAC under the new rules.
He demanded that a scholarly person be made the chairman of the committee by amending the rules of the Tribal Advisory Committee immediately.
He justified the boycott by Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, BJP leaders Neelkanth Singh Munda and Koche Munda of the first meeting of Tribal Advisory Committee.
During the press conference, BJP Scheduled Tribe Morcha National Executive Member Laxman Tudu, State Spokesperson Kaju Sandil, National Executive Member Ramesh Hasada, District President Binanand Sirka and others were present.
