It is heartening to note that with Phase II of vaccination being launched today, India is entering an important phase in the fight against coronavirus.
The registration for Covid-19 vaccination for people above 60 and for people above 45 with co-morbidities begins from 9 am today. The Co-WIN2.0 portal will open at 9 am on Monday.
Eligible citizens will be able to register and book an appointment for vaccination anytime through this Co-WIN 2.0 portal or even through the other apps such as Aarogya Setu too.
The registration will open at 9 am on Monday at http://www.Cowin.Gov.in.
India embarked on its Covid-19 vaccination journey on January 16, 2020 and it has been using 2 important vaccines – the SII-Oxford-Astrazeneca’s Covishield vaccine and the Bharat Biotech-ICMR Covaxin vaccine.
India has progressed very well so far with an average daily rate of 6.44 million doses per day. But even this rate of vaccination is proving too slow as the number of active patients is rising slowly across the country.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself took his first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and scotched all doubts about its safety and effectiveness. The vaccines are completely safe and effective as millions of doses administered so far in the country have shown.
While a large part of Indian population takes the jab, a lot would depend on the speed with which the phase II of vaccination would be completed.
This virus needs to be stopped as it has taken a heavy toll on us.
