Seraikela: The Seraikela-Kharsawan police have intensified their investigations into the incident in which a woman returning from work in Adityapur had to jump off a running auto to escape eve-teasing by 3-4 persons.
While the Adityapur police is carrying out strict checking of documents of autos plying in their area, Seraikela police too have launched a similar drive against auto drivers.
Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Shikshit Berojgar Auto Chalak Sangh has raised objection to the police drive claiming that innocent auto drivers are being made to suffer while the police have failed in identifying and nabbing the real culprits.
The BJP leader and patron of auto Chalak Sangh has come out in support of auto drivers. He said that the traffic police should stop harassing innocent auto drivers and instead focus on finding out the real criminals.
The BJP leaders has assured the administration that the auto drivers would extend all possible help to the administration in identifying and nabbing the real culprits.
Ganesh Mahali expressed grief at the incident in which a woman had to jump off from running auto to escape eve-teasing. He said that protecting woman passengers is the responsibility of auto drivers and said that all auto drivers should help the police in identifying the erring auto driver.
