Sujoy Nandi’s murder was a result of gang rivalry: SP
Adityapur: Seraikela-Kharsawan police have arrested four more persons in connection with Sujoy Nandi murder case and has sent them to judicial custody on Wednesday. Sujoy Nandi was murdered on December 16 near his house at S Type, Adityapur.
Those who have been arrested and sent to judicial custody on Wednesday are: Sanjeev Lohar, Rohan Thakur, Manik Das and Sukumar Das. Earlier, the police had arrested and sent to jail Sagar Gope, Md Imdad Khan, Ashish Deep and Pradeep Mann in the same case.
Police said that Sanjeev Lohar, Rohan Thakur and Sukumar Das have criminal antecedents. They said that the four persons were arrested today with loaded pistol of 7.65 bore used in the murder with four live cartridges, four mobiles and one router.
The SP M Arshi said that gang war and old rivalry were the main reasons for the murder. He said that deposing in court against the rival was another angle that was added to the old rivalry.
The SP said that Krishna Gope, who is in jail for now, was the conspirator in the case. He said that Krishna Gope is an accused in a case relating to attack on Sujoy Nandi in the past and Sujoy Nandi was expected to record his witness in that case.
The SP said that the deceased Sujoy Nandi too used to threaten Krishna Gope. He said that gang war was the main reason for the crime.
The SP said that to get rid of Sujoy, Krishna Gope asked Manik Das to arrange for a shooter. Sukumar Das provided weapon, while Rohan Thakur had fired at Sujoy.
He said that a contract for Rs. 1 lakh was given out for Sujoy’s murder and Rs. 30 thousand were already paid and Rs. 70 thousand was pending payment.
