MP Bidyut Baran Mahato intervenes in Jusco’s Shastri Nagar Road widening plan

Jamshedpur MP asks Jusco mgmt to limit road width to 45 m, assures locals of intervention

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato today visited the Shastri Nagar locality in Kadma and met the owners of the houses and shops who are likely to be affected by the decision of Jusco (now TSUISL) management to demolish structures to facilitate widening of road.

A few shops have already been demolished in some areas and the task of land measurement and delineation has been completed for other areas. This has made people apprehensive and panicky.

Jusco plans to make the existing road 70 ft wide. The area is densely populated and the road links Shastri Nagar area to Bistupur.

While speaking to the affected shopkeepers and house owners, he said that he has spoken to Jusco management and he has asked them to find a middle path. He said that the Urban Development Department has already constructed a by-pass road for heavy vehicles and there is no need for a 70 ft-wide road in the area.

He said that he has asked the Jusco management to see if they can keep the width of the road to only 45 ft.
