Jamshedpur: Bharat Bandh called by farmer organisations and supported by most of the opposition parties impacted life in Jamshedpur in a big way.
The nation-wide bandh called by the opposition parties has the support of the ruling alliance of Jharkhand too. JMM leaders and workers played a major role in making the bandh a success in the city.

In most parts of the city, the shops remained closed, auto-rickshaws did not ply, buses did not run and vehicles remained off the roads.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha workers took out a foot march from Sonari office of the party and shouted slogans against the farm bills. They went through various areas of Sonari and their appearance itself made the shopkeepers down their shutters.

Manoj Yadav, president of JMM wing Jharkhand Krida Morcha, said that JMM has always supported farmers and workers. He said that the farm laws will benefit the corporates and not the farmers. He said that the new laws would abolish the MSP. He even opposed the contract farming concept.
Enthusiastic Bandh supporters were seen enforcing bandh in different parts of the city. Tyres were burnt on roads and barricades were put up by the bandh supporters on many roads.

However, bandh supporters remained peaceful and no report of any untoward incident was reported from anywhere till 2 p.m.

However, several corporate offices remained open and work also continued in several banks and insurance offices.

In some down-town areas, even shops remained open. But, largely the bandh was a success in bringing normal business to a halt.

Congress, JMM and AAP supporters were seen enforcing Bharat Bandh in several parts of the city. Jharkhand Jantantrik Sabha blockaded the NH-33 in Narga under the jurisdiction of MGM Police Station.

There was an elaborate security arrangement almost in every part of the city. However, the security forces did not have to do much work as no untoward incident was reported from anywhere.
