Jamshedpur: Unidentified thieves broke the gate locks and then the donation box of a Mahaveer Mandir in Adityapur just 100 meters off Adityapur police station in Seraikela-Kharsawan district. They managed to escape with cash from the donation box.
It is yet to be ascertained as to exactly how much cash they have decamped with.
The theft is a bit surprising because the Mandir is adjacent to the police station boundary wall and is not even 100 m away.
It can be surmised as to how bold the thieves have become that they are not hesitating in even targeting the buildings adjacent to the police station.
The RIT Police station area too is being stalked by thieves. In many cases, even the complaints are not registered. Recently, several theft incidents had taken place in different houses of Baba Kuti area. A BJP leader’s house was also targeted. The accused in that case was even caught by the locals. However, the police released him as there was no complaint lodged against him and the accused person was a minor. However, the stolen goods were all recovered in those cases.
Lately, thieves have targeted mandirs of Bistupur too. A Mandir in Bistupur near Maila Tanki was targeted twice within a month and on both occasions the thieves stole the cash donated by the devotees worth several thousands.
