Footpath vendors shifted to Aam Bagan Maidan, big shopkeepers asked to clear roads
Jamshedpur: In a special drive, the district administration cleared encroachment from the footpath of Sakchi market roads. Even the encroachment made by the permanent shopkeepers of the market were also removed and all the shopkeepers were asked to keep their wares within their shops and not on the roads. On the other hand, the footpath vendors were asked to shift to Aam Bagan Maidan to prevent crowding in busy Sakchi market.
It may be recalled that the district administration has already earmarked Aam Bagan Maidan for roadside vendors and has made it clear that they can carry on their business in Aam Bagan Maidan.
However, despite this, the footpath vendors have been setting up their temporary shops in Sakchi Market and on the roads itself.
On Wednesday, the ADM, Dhalbhum SDO and the SSP reached Sakchi market and carried out the special drive of clearing the roads in the Sakchi market area.
The footpath vendors were asked to shift to Aam Bagan Maidan too.
Big shopkeepers who had kept their wares beyond their shop lists were also asked to take their wares inside the shop. They were also directed to follow the corona guidelines.
The officials said that the encroachment has reached a point where it was getting difficult to walk on the roads and that is why this special drive was carried out. They hinted that if the encroachment is repeated, legal action would be taken against erring shopkeepers.
Meanwhile, the administration had to face some opposition too. The shopkeepers had gheraoed the JNAC vehicle that arrived there to remove the encroachment. However, the driver took his vehicle away in time.
