Kowali woman dies of burn injuries, family blames husband

Jamshedpur: A woman Jyoti Mahali, a resident of Kowali police station area of Jamshedpur, died of burns on Sunday. The parents and family members of the deceased woman are blaming her husband and in-laws for her death. The police are investigating the case and have not reached any conclusion yet. Meanwhile, the husband has denied the accusations against him that he used to harass his wife.

According to the family members of the deceased woman she was married to Khelaram Mahali in 2017. She had a daughter too.

The family members of the woman said that since after the marriage there were disputes and domestic quarrel between the two.

On Saturday they were informed that Jyoti had sustained burn injuries and was admitted in MGMCH. After they reached the hospital, they found that she had died.

On the other hand, the husband of the deceased woman said that he had gone outside for some work and he was informed by the family members that his wife had sustained burn injuries. He said that when he took his wife to MGMCH, the doctors pronounced her dead. He denied that he used to beat or harass his wife.

The family members of the deceased woman, however, claimed that the woman was subjected to assaults regularly and that her husband was a drunkard and after he had lost his job, he was engaged in farming activities. The deceased woman hailed from Sini OP area of Seraikela district.

Police are investigating the case and are yet to reach a conclusion.
