4 women arrested from Sitaramdera area for peddling drugs

Jamshedpur: The city police has been carrying out a drive against drugs and contraband substances. Recently, acting on a tip-off, the city police had raided a hideout in Deo Nagar under the jurisdiction of Sitaramdera police station have arrested four women with marijuana and brown sugar.

The police drive against contraband substances and narcotics has been launched all over Kolhan on the instructions of Kolhan DIG. The police of different areas are making raids at different places.

The police have arrested four women from Deo Nagar with a large quantity of marijuana and brown sugar. According to City SP Subhash Chandra Jat, the police have seized 2 kg of marijuana and 23 packets of brown sugar too from their possession.

This seizure of marijuana and brown sugar is being viewed as a big achievement for the city police.

It may be recalled that on last Sunday the dead body of a 32-year-old youth was found from an abandoned and dilapidated lavatory in Chhaya Nagar under the jurisdiction of Sitaramdera Police station in Jamshedpur. The locals had alleged that the youth had died because of overdose of brown sugar. The news had caused quite a commotion in the entire area.

It may be added here that the residents in different areas under the jurisdiction of Sitaramdera police station have been complaining about illegal substances trade and misuse rampant in the area. Several times, the locals have raised their voice against the trade of contraband substances. However, despite this, the police have been unable to bust the mafia elements behind the illegal trade.

The members of Hindu Utsav Samity have raised questions over the role of police too. They claim that although the police round up the persons responsible for the illegal substance trade, they manage to come out of legal wrangle soon.
