Jamshedpur: The arrest of Republic TV’s Chief Editor Arnab Goswami is causing a lot of resentment among the common masses. In Jamshedpur too, street protests were held to oppose the arrest of Arnab Goswami.
On Wednesday journalists as well as political parties held protests in Jamshedpur to oppose the arrest of Arnab Goswami. On Thursday the journalists expressed their displeasure at the wrong arrest of Arnab Goswami by wearing black badges. On the other hand, common masses too took to streets. Hindu Jagran Manch and Bhojpuri Nav Cheta Manch activists held a joint demonstration. They also burnt the effigy of Maharashtra government and the so-called ‘award returner gang’.

The activists said that Arnab Goswami is being victimised wrongfully as an act of vendetta. They condemned the arrest of leading journalist of the country and urged the union government to take appropriate action in the matter.
Appu Tiwary of Bhojpuri Nav Chetna Manch said that the ‘Award returning gang’ does not see any threat to democracy in the actions of Maharashtra government . He said that an attempt is being made to crush democracy in Maharashtra, which will not be tolerated by the people of that state and this country.
Those who took part in the protest included Satish Kumar, Appu Tiwary, Dharmendra Prasad, Balbir Mandal, Pappu Upadhyay, Rishabh Singh, Manish Hindustani, Vikash Gupta, J P Singh, Vishal Singh, Raju Kumar, Jaideep Mukherjee, Kaushik Kumar, Ravish Singh and others.
