Several roads to be named after Martyrs, blood donation camp to be held
Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Police organised a Unity Run in honour of martyred policemen on Friday. The Unity Run started from Sakchi Gol Chakkar Friday morning and concluded at Jubilee Park Gate No. 1.
Those who participated in the Unity Run included SSP Dr. M Tamil Vanan, City SP Subhash Chandra Jat, all Dy SPs and other senior and junior police officers.
The district police are observing Martyrs’ Fortnight from October 21 to 23, in memory and honour of those policemen who had laid down their lives in the line of duty.
The Unity Run organised today was a part of Police Martyrs’ Fortnight.
The Martyr’s Fortnight is being observed to bring focus to the martyred police personnel and share the grief of their family members. The purpose is to honour and felicitate the family members of martyrs and put up their photos in different schools to apprise children about their stories of sacrifice. A blood donation camp will also be organised during the fortnight. Besides, a new hall constructed within the police office would be named after martyred police personnel.
The SSP said that several roads of Jamshedpur would be named after the martyred police personnel.
On the occasion, he appealed to the citizens to remember that the city police is always ready to serve them and to ensure their safety. He said that the citizens can seek any help and co-operation from police during Durga Puja. He also appealed to the general public to continue using masks and sanitisers and social distancing norms to prevent spread of coronavirus.
