More than 100 children get surprise Durga Puja gift from Facebook Group with 1700 members
Jamshedpur: Facebook Group Jamshedpur Maitreyee Poribar, known for its benevolent initiatives, brought joy to more than 100 children of Tangrain Middle School in Potka on Monday.
The group members not only travelled 40 kms from Jamshedpur to reach Tangrain village school, but they also distributed new clothes, chappals, eatables, provisions, writing materials, pens and other gifts to children.

Tangrain village is situated in the remote corner of Potka and is stalked by poverty and misery. The children of the school were joyous after receiving their surprise gifts.

The chief guest of the gift distribution programme was Anjali Bose, a senior social worker of the city. She was accompanied with the headmaster of Tangrain Middle School Arbind Tiwary, Jai Hari Singh Munda, president of the School Management Committee Surai Manjhi.

The members of Jamshedpur Maitreyi Pariwar also felicitated Ujjawal Munda of Gram Shiksha Samity and gave him a memento.
This clothes and gift distribution programme is organised every year just before Durga Puja and this has been a regular annual feature for the last four years.

Last year, Jamshedpur Maitreyi Pariwar had distributed gifts among the children of Dobo village.
The Facebook Group aims to enrich Bangla culture and also discharges social responsibility by helping poor, indigent and hapless people. It also provides medical help to those who need it. More than 1700 persons are active participant in this group.

A plantation programme was also organised on the occasion. The members of Jamshedpur Maitreyee Poribar also gifted two footballs to the children of Tangrain school.
