Jamshedpur: After nearly a 7-month long hiatus, Tatanagar railway station was full of people once again. The foot-falls came as a boon for the local economy as prospects for train services starting again brightened up.
Today, Tatanagar-Howra Steel Express left for its destination. A large number of passengers were seen on the station too. In all, 334 passengers travelled by this train. 288 passengers boarded second class, while the passengers of general compartment were 37 and 9 were Tatkal grade passengers.
Corona pandemic had necessitated a halt to the running of trains. But, now the government has started bringing the life back to its rock slowly as it unlocks different services one by one.
Train services have been started in a selective manner from different railway station taking all precautions.
Steel Express left for Howrah from Tatanagar railway station at 6.15 a.m.
In the coming days, Ranchi-Howrah-Yaswantpur trains are likely to be granted a halt at Tatanagar railway station too. A decision would be taken in this regard soon.
The railway administration is also thinking of starting some trains for Bihar too keeping the oncoming festive season in mind.
