Jamshedpur: A rift has surfaced in Jamshedpur Kendriya Durga Puja Samity as the President of the Samity C N Banerjee today declared the meeting held on September 28th by General Secretary Rambabu Singh as illegal. He also said all the decisions taken on that day have been scrapped as the meeting itself was unconstitutional as it was convened without informing the President of the committee.
In a press conference held today, the president of Kendriya Durga Puja Samity C N Banerjee said that according to the rules of the Samity, the president has to preside over all the meetings and the executive committee has to act to implement all the programmes.
He said that the general secretary Rambabu Singh has hurt the prestige of the Samity by violating the rules and regulations of the committee.
He said that in an executive committee meeting held on October 1, an unanimous decision was taken to void all the acts done against the rules and regulations of the samity.
He said that the executive also took a decision to take legal action if needed in this matter.
It may be recalled that the Samity led by general secretary Rambabu Singh had held a meeting on September 28th. The meeting discussed several issues, including the compliance of government guidelines and coronavirus related precautions in the meeting.
In that meeting, the executive committee discussed the functioning of different office-bearers. Work and contribution of some members were lauded. The meeting said that a few members are no more and their posts have fallen vacant. To fill up the vacant post, Ashutosh Singh was unanimously elected for the working president’s post.

New member: Aparna Guha from Pramoth Nagar.
Those who had attended the meeting included general secretary of the sanity Rambabu Singh, Ashutosh Singh, Ashok Sinha, Omio Ojha, Surjit Choudhary, Parmatma Mishra, Narayan Pal, Nandji Singh, Shambu Mukhi, Ajay Sharma, Sharsh Amrit, Pradip Das, Gautam Prasad, Rudra Prathapm, Satyendra Kumar, Sunil Debuka, Shiv Shankar, P S Mathur, Manoranjan Gaud, Raghvendra Mishra, Mansih Singh, Vinay Kumar and Vivek Kumar Gopal.
However, the president C N Banerjee has now annulled the meeting itself.
It would be interesting to see how the general secretary Rambabu Singh responds to the president’s reaction and what shape the schism takes in the days to come.
