Seraikela: In a major success, Seraikela-Kharsawan police have busted a huge inter-state gang of vehicle lifters. The police have arrested the kingpin along with five other members of the gang and have sent them to judicial custody.
The police have also recovered a large number of vehicles stolen by them from different areas, mostly from Jamshedpur, including one Sumo stolen from MGM police station, one Bolero stolen from Sitaramdera area.
The criminals arrested by the police are from Jamshedpur, Bihar and Bengal and they were working in sync as a network. According to SP of Seraikela-Kharsawan Md. Arshi those who have been arrested included Govinda Dey, Bachha Mishra, Md. Alauddin, Raju Kalindi, Umesh Singh and Md. Fulhasan.
The SP Md. Arshi said that, in view of the increase in the incidents of vehicle theft in different areas of the district, a team was formed under the leadership of Chandil SDPO.
He said that the team members have succeeded in busting the gang of vehicle lifters from different areas of Jamshedpur, West Bengal and Bihar.
He said that the members of the gang used to steal vehicles from Jamshedpur and Seraikela district and after cutting them they used to sell the parts as scrap.
The SP said that the gang was also involved in other criminal incidents, including one theft in a liquor shop in Seraikela police station area.
The SP said the police are investigating the other activities of the gang members too. The arrest of members of the vehicle lifters’ gang is being viewed as a major success of Seraikela-Kharsawan police.
