Police nab Bhalubasa loot attempt accused Monu from Khunti

Jamshedpur: In a major achievement, Sitaramdera police on Sunday arrested the second absconding accused in the Bhalubasa loot and abduction attempt case. The second accused Monu was arrested from Khunti and was sent to judicial custody on Sunday after interrogation.

According to police, the absconding accused Monu, who is the brother of the other accused Sonu, who was caught on the crime scene by the locals, was absconding. Police arrested him from Khunti and sent him to judicial custody.

Police said that both brothers Sonu and Monu had taken the family members of owner of Sharma Packers & Movers Ashok Sharma hostage and had tried to abduct their child.

Sonu was already arrested on the day of the crime by the locals. However, Monu had managed to escape and was absconding. The police had even tried to trace him in Arwal, Bihar, but they did not get his whereabouts. Finally, they managed to nab him in Khunti.

It may be recalled that a former staff member Sonu and his own brother Monu had carried out the loot attempt at Mr. Sharma’s house in Bhalubasa.

The nabbed youth Sonu had revealed the details about the loot attempt. According to the police, Sonu told them that he was an employee in Sharma Packers and Movers and used to work as a vehicle driver. However, during the corona lockdown he went to his native place in Jahanabad as he had no work. Owing to there being no work, he was facing a lot of financial hardships. During this period he hatched a plan with his brother Monu to rob his employer Ashok Sharma’s house.

He said that they had reached Ranchi and then came over to Jamshedpur via road route. They went to Ashok Sharma’s house and were trying to carry out dacoity, but the locals caught them.

Sonu and Monu last Monday entered the an apartment belonging to owners of Sharma Packers and Movers, had taken his daughter-in-law hostage and then tried to abduct his granddaughter.

The locals managed to nab one of the criminals Sonu and handed him over to the police.
