Jamshedpur: JMM organised a huge demonstration on Wednesday against Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020 at the District Headquarters. JMM workers also blocked the main road for several hours in the name of demonstration. The Covid-19 lockdown rules and social norms were also seen being violated openly by the demonstrators.
JMM workers and leaders on Wednesday held a huge demonstration at the district headquarters against Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020 passed by the Parliament recently.
JMM leaders described the act as being against the interests of the farmers of the country. The party also submitted a memorandum to the DC office and shouted slogans against the Act.
However, the demonstration was completely chaotic as the number of JMM supporters was very large and they spilled over on the roads blocking the traffic. The commuters had to face road jam for hours. The party supporters kept demonstrating at the district headquarters gate. However, during this demonstration the Covid-19 lockdown and social norm were violated openly.
The demonstration was being led by party MLA and he too seemed oblivious of social distancing norms.
Ghatsila MLA Ramdas Soren was and Jugsalai MLA Mangal Kalindi were leading the demonstration. Meanwhile, Dhalbhum SDO arrived at the district headquarters and he instructed the leaders to maintain social distance.
He also had a verbal argument with the two MLAs over this. Dhalbhum SDO did not relent and went on with action against norms violation. This infuriated the two MLAs and they said that they said that they would speak to the CM about this.
