Bengaluru: Eminent singer S P Balasubrahmanyam is no more. He had tested positive for coronavirus and was in a serious condition for several weeks. He passed away at a Chennai Hospital Friday. His condition had become serious during the last 24 hours and he was on life support.
SP Balasubramyam is a name that dominates the Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam music and movie world. He had a stature few could match in the music world.
He was awarded with Padma Shri in 2001 as well as Padma Bhushan in 2011 by the government for his contribution to cinema.
He started his career in 1966 with the Telugu film “Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna’ and became an instant celebrity.
He has lent his voice in several languages in India, including Hindi Bollywood songs like: Mere rang mein rangne wali, Mere jeevan sathi, tere mere beech mein. He started his stint in Bollywood with the movie “Ek Duje Ke Liye”.
He also played a few roles in Tamil movies like Keladi Kanmani and Sigaram as well as Kadhalan.
He has sung numerous melodious and memorable songs which will keep reminding Indians of his sweet and addictive voice.
His demise brings end to an era in Indian music and film industry. Who else can sing this song better than him?
