Jamshedpur: With a view to warding off Corona effectively, Tata Steel management is considering the option of extending the alternate day 12-hour work plan in the entire plant.
This plan was implemented in Sinter Plant and New Bar on pilot project basis.
Seeing the success of the initiative, the company management has decided to extend it to entire plant.
However, there are some difficulties too. Not all plants are suitable for long work hours. And amenities too would have to be increased to make it a success. The issue is likely to to be discussed with the union leaders.
Under this, the employees would have to work one day, while they will have an off-day on next day.
On the other hand, the payment of arrears to those employees who have retired between January 1, 2018 to October, 2019 would be made in September month. The employees would get a minimum of Rs. 3.5 lakh under this head.
This information was conveyed to the union leaders on Monday.
The meeting between top union leaders and management representatives also discussed bonus and it was decided to start the bonus talks soon.
Leave encashment and LTC related issues were also discussed.
