Gods are unjust. They are cruel. And now we know that they also have too many holes.
One of the most powerful arguments against god’s existence had been made by Epicurus.
Epicurus had asked famously: ”Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”
The fact that the man who helped so many poor people in the city, one who provided them with free legal help, someone who played an important role in abolishing “Dayan pratha” in Jharkhand, has had to die outside a treatment centre, at the gates of a treatment centre, beyond the precincts of a hospital, is shocking.
And it also proves that most of our gods are of no use. They actually are falsehood incarnate.
Everyone dies. There are a thousand diseases and a thousand reasons to die. Death needs no justification or logic.
But some deaths are caused before time. And some are caused by callousness of gods. They should not happen. However, they do happen, exposing how ineffective and how false our gods are.
We are told that gods are supposed to be in place to prevent such untimely deaths.
It is hard to imagine that in a city where roads are lined with trees on both sides, where we have country’s finest doctors, best hospitals, world-class infrastructure and what not, a kind man like Advocate G S Jaiswal, whose family was well-to-do too and did not lack resources either, had to die outside a treatment centre.
Really, outside? Literally on the roads? At the gates?
And so many gods could not provide him a mere ventilator that the country has reportedly procured in sufficient numbers?
Are we not told that our country is well-positioned to fight any disease now?
What good is gods’ power, lustre, means and resources, if Advocate G S Jaiswal could not get a ventilator when he needed it most?
The man who served the poor without charging anything and without asking for any favour could not get what he needed when he needed it most.
Only gods should take the blame for this.
Gods. You are merciless. You are false. And you have too many holes that are hard to plug.
