Congress leaders and workers pay homage to Rajiv Gandhi on 76th Birth anniversary

Jamshedpur: The city unit of Congress party today paid homage to former Prime Minister of India late Rajiv Gandhi on his 76th birth anniversary at party office in Baridih.

Senior Congress leader Anand Bihari Dubey addressed small gathering of Congress workers and said that late Rajiv Gandhi, in true sense, can be called the father of modern India.

He said that it was Rajiv Gandhi who led the launch of a Panchayati Raj, which is playing an important role in the development of the country.

He said that he also laid the foundations of the IT in the country and only due to those foundations we have performed well at the world level.

He said that it was Rajiv Gandhi who got the locks of the Ram Mandir opened.

Later, the Congress workers also distributed food materials among 50 poor and needy persons.

Those who were present on the occasion included senior Congress leader and in-charge of Chaibasa unit of the party Samanto Kumar, former state secretary of the party Vijay Yadav, spokesman of Kolhan Congress Atul Gupta, general secretary of the district Congress Sanjay Ghosh, Shailendra Singh, general secretary of district Congress Rajesh Choudhary, Santosh Pal, Dhiraj Kumar, Trinath, Raju Prasad and Sushil Ghosh.
