Academic Council approves UG, PG, M.Phil-PhD Regulation
Culture, history and polity of Jharkhand to be essential parts of courses
Jamshedpur: Tuesday proved a historic day for Jamshedpur Women’s College. A decision was taken to launch M.Phil and PhD courses in the college.
A provision to this effect had been made in UGC’s 2018 regulation relating to autonomous colleges which was notified vide an extraordinary Gazette notification of the Government of India.
The Academic Council of the College held a meeting via Google Meet on Tuesday and passed the regulation relating to UG, PG, M.Phil and PhD level courses.
The meeting was presided over by the principal of the college Dr. Shukla Mahanty and continued for around 3 hours.
A number of academic decisions were taken in the meeting.
All the PG level courses would have 98 credits. College would soon start the process of recognising the credits of online courses available on the portal.
Dr Shukla Mahanty said that talks are on with top universities for MoUs, so that credits could be transferred.
The M.Phil course would have 48 credits and admissions would take place on the basis of a national level entrance examination. A testing agency would be authorised for the process.
