Ranchi: The Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren today hoisted the national tricolour at Independence Day function held at Shaheed Sthal at Shaheed Chowk in the state capital.
Earlier, the Chief Minister offered floral tributes to the martyrs of Jharkhand at Shaheed Sthal.
Later, after hosting the tricolour, he said in his address that Jharkhand has been a land of martyrs and great heroes who laid down their lives for motherland.
He said that the nation can never forget the sacrifices made by our martyrs and we must continue to learn from their ideals for which they laid down their lives.

He said that Jharkhand has been a land of great heroes. In the Independence Movement too the heroes of Jharkhand played an important role. He said that the freedom fighters of the state even forced he Britishers to kneel down before them.
He said that this is a land of Veer Budhu Bhagat, Vishwanath Shahdeo, Bhagwan Birsa Munda, martyrs Sidho-Kanhu, Neelambar-Peetambar and Sheikh Bhikhari.
He said that the sacrifices made by these heroes are now a part of the folklore in the state.
