Maoists blast and damage Barkela Forest Guard House in Kolhan forests

Jamshedpur: Maoists have caused an IED blast in the Barkela Forest Guard House under Mufassil police station area near Chaibasa, West Singhbhum.

According to information received from sources, a group of Maoists reached the Forest Guard House built by the Forest Department. The Maoists forced all the forest guards present on the premises to leave the place. After that they laid out an improved explosive device (IED) and carried out a powerful blast causing extensive damage to the building. At least three structures were extensively damaged.

A police team has reached the site for investigations, but no further information could be gathered.

A local journalist Dhananjay Mandal has confirmed about the incident and he even tweeted the first pictures of the blast and the damage caused to the structures by the IED blast.
