Kingpin of gang of thieves arrested in Ghatsila, goods recovered

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum police Monday arrested the alleged kingpin of a racket of thieves responsible for a series of thefts in several police station areas.

Police officials said the accused, identified as Mohammad Hussain, was behind numerous thefts reported in Jadugora, Mosabani, Ghatsila and MGM police station areas.

Hussain was caught during anti-crime checking in Jagannathpur of Ghatsila. Cops confiscated a stolen ambulance from his possession. The ambulance was stolen from Ghatsila Subdivisional Hospital, cops said.

The accused and his associates, identified as Vijay Munda alias Mohammad Raju, Bangali, Suraj Bahadur Thapa and Mohammad Chand alias Chand Bachcha and Govind Gope had stolen liquor from a shop at Dimna Chowk.

The racket stole valuables and goods from several shops in the rural parts of the district, said a police official.

SDPO Rajkumar Mehta said Hussain had confessed his involvement in many crimes. Police have recovered stolen goods from Jugsalai, Bagbera and Sidhgora, said Mehta.
