The DC, Ravi Shankar Shukla, has again appealed to the people of East Singhbhum to not go out of their houses unless necessary and also to continue to abide by all safety instructions.
The DC today confirmed the first Covid-19 related death in the city and said that several organs of the patient had stopped functioning. He said that the patient was admitted in TMH on June 30.
The elderly patient breathed his last on Saturday at around 12 in the noon.

Covid-19 has caused 16 deaths in the state till date. Although the mortality rate in the state as well as the recovery rate are better than the national average, the number of new infections has been on the rise steadily.
In Jamshedpur, there has been an upward trend in the number of new infections.
Till a few days back most of the new cases related to those who have had a travel history. But now more and more patients with no travel history are being found positive.
And this is a worrying trend which has made the district administration sit up and take notice.
The first person who succumbed to Covid-19 in the city was a resident of Sonari Khuntadih, was 71 and had multiple co-morbidities.
