Ranchi: Head Constable Kuldeep Oraon of CRPF was martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Srinagar Thursday night. He was a native of Sahebganj. He was posted in the 18th CRPF Battalion.
Sources said the CRPF officials broke the bad news this morning by calling Oraonś family.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren condoled Oraonś death in a tweet and expressed sympathy for his bereaved family members.
Sources said the encounter took place in Malbag locality near Hazrat Bal in Srinagar. Acting on tip-off, the paramilitary forces rounded up the terrorists who fired on the cops. In retaliation, CRPF team also fired on the terrorists.
Three CRPF jawans were injured in the incident. They were taken to 92 Base Army Hospital. Kuldeep Oraon, who was critically injured, died in the hospital.
The martyred jawanś father, Ghanshyam Oraon, is a retired CRPF jawan. He is currently the Ward Councilor of Ward No 28 in Sahebganj.
¨I have served the CRPF and my son got martyred while serving the force. We are proud of him. But the government should resolve the issue of terrorism permanently so that our brave jawans are not martyred,¨ said Oraon senior.
Kuldeep’s wife is a police constable in Kolkata. The couple has two kids.
Babulal Marandi too offered a wreath and paid his respects to the martyred soldier.
