Rs 25,000 loan demanded for street vendors

Jamshedpur: Members of Samyukta Yuva Sangh, a city-based social outfit, have demanded Rs 25,000 loan aid for street vendors and small-scale traders.

In a letter handed over to East Singhbhum DC Ravi Shankar Shukla on Thursday, the outfit members said the Rs 10,000 loan offered by the government during the COVID-19 pandemic was not enough.

¨We welcome the Central government decision to provide loan to street vendors under the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana. But it should be borne in mind that the amount offered by the government is inadequate, given inflation and the current situation. Hence we request the Hemant Soren government to provide Rs 25,000 to all vendors,¨ said Ravi Singh Chandel, state president of the outfit.

Many outfit members were present during handing over of the memorandum to DC.
