Jamshedpur: City-based social organization Samajik Seva Sangh has approached Tata Motors to demand reopening of all community development centres in rural areas.
The outfit convenor Rajesh Kumar Samant, in a letter to the company, said, ¨Several community development centres used to run in Rahargora, Barigora, Sarjamda, Sopodera, Bamangora, Gadra, Govindpur, Khakripara, Tupudang and other adjoining areas under the aegis of Tata Motors. But for the last few years, these centres have been closed. As a result, the local residents, especially women, are deprived of various facilities.
The village women used to get employment through stitching, weaving and other job-oriented trades. The company also used to organize health camps through these centres.
Many village development activities were organized earlier with the help of these centres. The company management is hereby requested to reopen the centres in the larger interest of the poor and under-privileged people.¨
