Ranchi: Jharkhand Congress leaders took to the streets in the state capital against the continuing hikes in the prices of petrol and diesel here on Monday. They sat on dharna before Raj Bhavan to demand a rollback. Protests were also organised in other districts of the state.
Leading the protestors in Ranchi, state Congress president cum state Food and Civil Supplies Minister Rameshwar Oraon alleged that the people of the country were witnessing for the first time a situation wherein diesel prices have been raised at par with petrol.
He said the people were reeling under growing inflation under the Narendra Modi government.
Petrol and diesel prices are going up every other day. PM Modi should explain the rationale behind it. People want to know as to what compelled the government to raise the fuel prices so many times in
such a short span. This is historic and no one in the government has come up with a satisfactory answer,¨ Oraon said.
Other Congress leaders present on the occasion included Alok Dubey and Ajay Nath Shahdeo.
Congress leaders also protested in other districts of the state including East Singhbhum.
