Jamshedpur: International Yoga Day on Sunday was observed in the city with enthusiasm and traditional spirit. At the time when social distancing is the norm, people preferred to remain indoors and perform Yogasanas alone instead of participating in group exercise.

While at the national level the Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself led the International Yoga day, in Jamshedpur, several politicians and other eminent personalities performed yoga with enthusiasm.

The Prime Minister in his observation on International Yoga day emphasised that the world is now taking the need to practice the traditional Indian yoga more seriously. He also said that Yogasanas or poses are helpful in boosting immunity and also strengthen muscles and metabolism.

Many of the yoga enthusiasts in Jamshedpur too echoed similar sentiments. Those who took part in yoga practice on the occasion of International Yoga Day included the former chief ministers of Jharkhand Arjun Munda and Raghubar Das, Abhay Singh, Rakeshwar Pandey.

However, most of those practising yoga were conscious of the need to maintain social distancing and they took care to ensure that no social distancing norms were violated.
